Making the Most of your Dehydrated Meals

Inspired Cooking

Are you in a cooking rut?  Are you having a hard time figuring out what to make?  With our Meals at 2dryfor, we've taken care of the "whats for dinner" question. Do you need some inspiration now for how to bring it all together?

Freshen Up Mealtime With Veggies

Maybe you’ve wanted to experiment with a specific vegetable or haven’t learned how to prepare one the right way. Now’s the perfect time to try.

Cook Brussels sprouts you’ll love. It’s no secret that Brussels sprouts have a bad rap, but if you slice them thinly and cook them with olive oil, garlic, lemon, and pasta, then you may realize you love them!

Roast to perfection. Roast veggies at 425°F (220°C) for 20–45 minutes, depending on the vegetable.

Add Your Own Spin With Seasonings

Herbs and spices let you cook creatively, so you avoid
a bland meal. Try growing some herbs in your garden or on your patio.

Dive in with dried herbs. If you’re a novice when it comes to seasonings, start with dried herbs. Dried herbs are more concentrated than fresh herbs, so you only need half as much to get the right flavor.

Add hearty herbs early. It’s best to add fresh, hearty herbs—like thyme, rosemary, and oregano—early in the cooking process, so their flavors infuse with the dish.

Save delicate herbs for last. Delicate herbs—like parsley, cilantro, basil, and chives—are generally chopped, snipped, or torn and added as you finish cooking.

Putting it all together

Yankee Pot Roast Gravy Mix and Mashed Potato  is comfort at its best.  The warm mushroom gravy is delightfully poured over the garlic mashed potatoes.  Some sides that might be good to pair this with is serving some seasonal roasted root vegetables such as carrots, pasnips, and turnips.  Roast them with herbs and spices.  Creamed corn is flavorful and is a classic side that pairs well with measts.  Cornbread is buttery and slightly sweet and a southern staple that soaks up the gravy beautifully.  Roasted Brussel Sprouts tossed with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and spices for a crispy and flavorful side.

Chicken Dumpling Stew is loaded with veggies, chunks of chicken, a creamy broth, and soft dumplings.  It's pretty complete but you could add a big green salad with your favorite toppings.  For something on the lighter side add fresh fruit slices like melon and rasberries and for dessert  jello or sugarfree jello would be a treat.

Country Style Hamburger Stew Mix  brings a variety of vegetables, beef, and a rich tomato broth.  Mashed potatoes, buttered noodles with some fresh herbs is a guaranteed kid pleaser.  Add cornbread in a basket or bisquits served with butter and honey.  For some vegetables; green beans and a nice all american salad would be coleslaw.  Another great side would be macaroni and cheese.

Classic Southern Chili is a versatile dish that pairs well with a variety of sides.  Here is some great options: Cornbread is timeless.  Its great because it soaks up the juices and flavors perfectly.  Load up a baked potato and add some cheese, sourcream, and green onions.  For something fresh and green consider a green salad or coleslaw.  French bread or a baquette, toritlla chips, sweet potato fries, and as far as toppings go; add avacado, cliantro, jalapenos, and sour cream.

Garden Minnestrone Soup is loaded with pasta, beans and veggies.  A crusty brown bread is a classic choice, grilled cheese sandwich is a comfort pairing, a refreshing salad will bring a light option to balance the hearty soup.  Consider a light vinegrette.  Roasted vegetables add extra flavor and nutrients.  Check out roasted broccoli, carrots or brussel sprouts.
